Will of William James - 1841 Original Will, on file in Raleigh, NC Archives CR 073.801 In the name of God Amen I William James of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina being of Sound mind but infirm in body do make this my last will & Testament on this 13th day of February Eighteen Hundred and sixty Eight in Manner & Form following, Viz In the first place I desire that all my debts be paid by my wife In the Second Place I Will & bequeath all my lands House hold & Kitchen furniture Horses, Cattle Hogs & Sheep & all & every species of property to my wife during her lifetime and after her death I desire all the lands & what ever else may remain of m personal property be equally devided between my Two grandsons John and William James, Sons of Wilie James decd, In the third place I Will & bequeath to each of my son Georges sons fifty cts each Lastly fourth & last place I desire my Wife Scynthia to act as Execu trix carry out this my last & only Will sing in presence his of William v James (Seal) C. "Wilie" looks like is was corrected from "Witie" - maybe the writer accidentally crossed the "L", and then corrected it? My guess from various other research is that the testator in this will was the son of Jesse James whose will was written 13 Apr 1841.
