Will of James Few - 25 Mar 1779 Original Will, on file in Raleigh, NC Archives CR 073.801 In the Name of God amen I James few of the County of Orange Cooper, being in perfect health of Bodey and of Perfect mind and Memory thanks be given unto god: - Calling unto mind the mortality of my bodey and know- ing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last will and testament that is to Say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hand of almity god that gave it and my body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial but at the discretion of my Executors Nothing doubt ing but at the General Ressurrection I Shall Receive the Same again by the mighty power of god and as touch ing Such worldly goods or estate Wherewith it had pleased god to bless me in this I give dimise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner and form------------------- first I give and bequaith to my beloved wife francis all Personal Estate and She is to pay to my three---- Daughters Elizabeth ann and bethiah five Shillings Each and to my Son James three pounds to be Rased and Leved out of my Estate Likewise I Constitute make and ordain my wife Sole Executrick of this my Last Will and testament all and Singular my Good and Chattels by her freely to be Posseed and Enjoyed and I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Disannual all and Every other former tesstaments Wills Legacies bequests and Executor by me in any Wise before Named willed and bequethed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and testament in Witness Whereof I have hereunto [page 2] I hae hereunto Set my hand and Seal this twenty fifth day of march in the yeare of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Nine Witness preasent James Few (seal) John Wood Ann Wood John flintham Sate of North Carolina } February Term 1788 Orange County } The within Will was proved in open Court by the Oaths of John Woods[sic] and Ann Woods subscribing Witns who swore that the saw James Few ["who" crossed out] sign Seal publish pronounce & declare the same to be & contain his last Will and Testament, & also that He was of sound mind and memory at the same time Orderd that it be Recorded - Teste At the same time Francis Few the Executrix therein named qualified as such ordered that Letters Testamentary issued to her accordingly Teste Transcription by Ben Franklin of Durham, NC 7 Dec 2009.
