Will of Abram Crabtree 4 Jan 1876 Original Will, on file in Raleigh, NC Archives CR 073.801 In the name of God Amen I Abram Crabtree of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but weak in body and general health, and considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, It is my will and desire that my body be buried in a decent and Christian manner suitable to the wishes of my friends and relations Second: My beloved Wife Gennette Crabtree has been, since it has pleased God for us to be together, a good and affectionate wife, and as a token of love and great esteem for her, I give and devise unto my said wife Genette Crabtree, all my property of every discreption, both real and personal to her and to her heirs forever The land whereon I now live upon the death of my father descended to his children Jenny, Nancy, Fannie, Phebe, Betsie Eliza, William Crabtree & myself. Phebe and Betsie died many years ago intestate without issue: Jinney & Nancy died a [page 2] few years ago also intestate and without issue. Several years ago. I bought the interest in the land from Eliza Hunter & her husband John Hunter, and my brother William Crabtree, and ["my sisters" crossed out]Fanny Dollar and have all their deeds for the same: my sister Fanny Dollar died when her children were quite young, and I contracted with Stephen Dollar her husband, and it was at his request that if I would take the two youngest children and raise them I should have all the childrens interest in the land. I took the children and kept them until the boy was twenty one years old and the girl until she was fifteen, and Stephen Dollar for and in consideration of raising the two children as above stated made me a deed to their share of the land now if the children of my said sister Fanny Dollar shall hereafter claim any portion of the land, then I direct my Executors herein after named to make them pay a reasonable sum for their raising equal to their share in the land.
